Akwesasne Drug Seizure by Mohawk Police worth 469,000$ — Two arrested.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Criminal Enforcement Unit arrested two Akwesasne men after executing a take-down of an attempted drug- smuggling operation on Cornwall Island on October 30th, 2015. According to a press release sent out by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police, officials noticed suspicious activities in the early morning hours that caused a concern for further investigation and found that two local males were participating in an illicit drug transaction. Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service officers moved in on the activity and both subjects were arrested on drug-related charges subject to the (CDSA) Controlled Drug and Substance Act. The arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 134 pounds of packaged marihuana with a valued estimate of $469,000 dollars, a GMC pick-up truck, and mixed Canadian and U.S. Currency.
