Akwesasne Drug Seizure by Mohawk Police worth 469,000$ — Two arrested.

1344988758729_ORIGINALThe Akwesasne Mohawk Police Criminal Enforcement Unit arrested two Akwesasne men after executing a take-down of an attempted drug- smuggling operation on Cornwall Island on October 30th, 2015.

According to a press release sent out by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police, officials noticed suspicious activities in the early morning hours that caused a concern for further investigation and found that two local males were participating in an illicit drug transaction.

Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service officers moved in on the activity and both subjects were arrested on drug-related charges subject to the (CDSA) Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
The arrest
resulted in the seizure of approximately 134 pounds of packaged marihuana with a valued estimate of $469,000 dollars, a GMC pick-up truck, and mixed Canadian and U.S. Currency.
Charged with “Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking” and “Proceeds Obtained by Crime” are Craig A.P. Thompson (29) and Francis M. Jacobs (22) both of Akwesasne. Both subjects were remanded into custody and appeared on Monday November 2, 2015 for a Bail Hearing at the Cornwall Provincial Court.
