Cornwall- Brookdale Corridor Set to Be Redirected to Water Street Detour for the Summer of ‘17– “The Federal Bridge Corporation is working in conjunction with Louis Bray Construction to complete the installation of the final layer of asphalt, as well as paving the recreation path and the final landscaping of this area.”

April 26, 2017, the City of Cornwall, ON made an announcement that the final phase of construction along Brookdale Avenue will begin the first week of May 2017.  The same section that was closed off at the end of Summer 2016 will be once again redirected to Water Street, as well as other undetermined detours to make this busy corridor run as smooth as possible.

The Federal Bridge Corporation is working in conjunction with Louis Bray Construction to complete the installation of the final layer of asphalt, as well as paving the recreation path and the final landscaping of this area.  This section of Brookdale Avenue will be closed for an undetermined period of time, as the city did not disclose that information.

Brookdale Avenue was closed for roughly five months, from the end of Summer 2016 through the end of January 2017, creating frustrations for the everyday commuter, and longer than expected wait times at the international border.  Cumberland St. was the main detour used, with additional traffic lighting installed.  The City of Cornwall is likely to utilize those traffic lights as construction is set to begin next week.
