The Akwesasne Mohawk Police are investigating the kidnapping, assault and robbery of a Cornwall taxi cab driver. One suspect, 20-year-old Dennis Benedict-Sylvester of Akwesasne, has already been arrested for the incident, and police have issued a warrant for 22-year-old Noah Paul King of Akwesasne. King is wanted for robbery, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, kidnapping, mischief under $5000 and theft under $5000. King is described by police as a native male, medium complexion, five-feet-five inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes.
According to police officials, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of November 9th, 2015, after the driver picked up the two males at La Maison Tavern in Cornwall, Ontario. The driver says he was directed to drive to Cornwall Island, near Mc Cumber Road South, and this is where the incident occurred.
According to the AMP press release, one of the men fled on foot. The other male placed the injured cab driver in the rear seat where he threatened to kill him. The cab driver was able to use his personal cell phone to call 9-1-1. The cab driver managed to escape from the vehicle and fled to a nearby residence on Cornwall Island, that’s when the Akwesasne Mohawk Police were contacted. The driver was taken to the hospital where he sustained injuries, but was later released that day. The taxi cab was later found abandoned at a residence in the east end of Cornwall Island, Akwesasne, Ontario.
The driver of ‘The Choice Taxis’, recounted his story in the media earlier this week, he says he was beaten up in his Toyota Camry hybrid, robbed of a substantial, but undisclosed, amount of money, and had his life threatened in the overnight hours early Monday morning. He said the incident was terrifying.
