Tribe Supports Ohero:kon “Under the Husk” Rites of Passage

Ohero:kon is a four-year traditional rites of passage ceremony that has been revived to help adolescents transition into adulthood by strengthening them spiritually mentally, emotionally and physically.  The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) continued to show support for the Ohero:kon “Under the Hust” Rites of Passage with its fourth annual donation of $20,000 from the SRMT COmmunity Partnership Fund. The contribution represents the Tribe’s continued and ongoing efforts to help strengthen Mohawk culture and identity,  which according to a press release from the SRMT it’s a universal principle identified in the tribes 10-year Strategic Plan “Working Together Today to Build a Better Tomorrow.”
